Cooking with Science at Community Gardens
Three days with 12 youngsters
-cooking in the pizza oven, pizzas, savoury breads, banana bread, kofta balls and chicken skewers, with Ortem Cafe chef Pete.
-conducting experiments with Graham using the hydrometer, refractometer and uristix testing for sugars in foods made and bought.
-making, testing and tasting Ginger beer, tasting kefir, kombucha and a variety of fresh sprouts and bush tuckers and 20 herbs and a mix of seasonal fruits picked on the day.
Thanks to Diabetes Australia, Need 4 Feed and the Toowoomba Community Garden for all helping us design a program for supporting the keen youngsters to understand sugar, diabetes, diet and exercise using science and food.
